Terms of Service

Decree is professional software for licensed attorneys and their staff. We are not your lawyer; using Decree does not create an attorney-client relationship, and nothing in the product is legal advice. The attorney using Decree remains responsible for reviewing every calculation and form before relying on it or filing it.

You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure. Organization administrators control membership and data access within their tenant. You are responsible for activity under your account. Firms may invite clients and opposing counsel to separate file portals. Those recipients use their own authenticated accounts and receive only the upload or download access granted to them. Firms are responsible for choosing recipients and managing sharing permissions, including folder shares that cover future files and subfolders.

Don't use Decree to violate the law, court rules, or third-party rights; don't upload data you have no right to process; don't attempt to access another organization's data or probe the service's security.

Paid plans are billed per seat through Stripe, monthly or annually, at the rates shown on our pricing page. Your firm's first subscription starts with a 14-day free trial; no credit card is required to start. If your firm re-subscribes after canceling, there is no second trial — a card is required and billing starts right away. When an administrator adds or removes a member, the seat count and invoice adjust automatically, prorated on the next invoice.

Prices exclude applicable sales tax, which is calculated and collected at checkout (including Washington sales tax). The child-support calculator is included in every plan.

You own your matter data and documents. You grant us a limited license to process them solely to operate the service. While your firm has application access, you can download supported court forms as Word documents, export property schedules as CSV or Excel, and download uploaded files. Decree does not currently provide an automated whole-firm export; contact support to discuss the available scope and delivery method for a broader request. Practice Pro includes 500 AI pages per paid seat per UTC calendar month, pooled across your firm. One PDF page or one standalone image counts as one AI page. Text PDFs, scanned PDFs, and standalone images draw from the same pool at the same rate; there is no separate image allowance. Pages count when extraction starts, including pages in a run that later fails. Recovering the same saved start, up to two linked retries of only failed documents, and follow-on comparison or organization steps do not count those pages again. Cancelled runs cannot be retried for free. During a no-card Practice Pro trial, the firm receives a flat allowance of 500 AI pages; adding trial users does not increase it.

A firm administrator on an active Practice Pro subscription may buy one 250-page add-on pack for the firm per UTC calendar month for $10, plus applicable tax. Add-on pages join the same firm-wide pool for the current UTC calendar month. Unused included and add-on pages expire at the start of the next UTC calendar month and do not roll over. The AI-page allowance is a hard cap: when no pages remain, extraction pauses until an administrator adds a pack or the AI-page allowance resets. Decree does not automatically bill page overages. Your firm's AI-page usage, allowance, reset date, and page-pack controls are shown in Settings → Billing.

The timing of a plan or billing-interval change and any prorated adjustment are shown in Stripe before confirmation. Depending on the change, it may take effect immediately or at the end of the current period. An immediate change does not necessarily create an immediate charge; prorated adjustments may appear on a later invoice. Cancellations take effect at the end of the paid subscription period. If Practice Pro eligibility instead ends immediately, Decree immediately removes any active current-month add-on pages and automatically refunds the full page-pack purchase price, including collected tax, even if some add-on pages were already used. A refunded pack still counts as the firm's one pack for that UTC calendar month.

AI output is a suggestion, not advice: extracted values must be reviewed by a person before they are applied to a matter or included in a filing. Decree stores proposed results for that review. When you request extraction, we send selected documents and relevant matter context to our configured AI provider. Follow-on comparison and summary steps may also process derived financial information and existing financial or property records in the same matter, as described in the Privacy Policy. Decree does not use your matter data to train its own models. Under the providers' standard commercial API settings, inputs and outputs are not used for model training by default, but a provider account holder may be able to opt into data sharing or model improvement; provider safety logging and legal exceptions may also apply.

Calculations and generated forms are tools, provided "as is." Statutes, schedules, and pattern forms change; verify outputs against current law before filing. AI-extracted values are suggestions that require human review.

To the maximum extent permitted by Washington law, our total liability arising out of these terms or the service is capped at the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, and neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

You can cancel at any time from Settings → Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for — you keep access until then, and no new subscription renewal charges accrue after cancellation takes effect. Existing charges or adjustments may still be invoiced. We do not issue automatic partial refunds for unused time. Where applicable, plan changes and removed seats generate prorated invoice credits rather than cash refunds; a change scheduled for period end does not ordinarily generate a credit for unused time. The full-refund rule for an active AI-page pack when Practice Pro eligibility ends immediately is the exception described under AI features. If something went wrong on our side, write to support@decree.legal and we will make it right. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. After cancellation, data is retained and deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

These terms are governed by Washington law. Any dispute arising out of these terms or the service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington, and each party consents to venue there.

We may update these terms as the product and the law evolve. We will give notice of material changes by email or in the product before they take effect; continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
